Everyone else was healthy, and participants came from both erionite-free and erionite-laden towns.
The Turkish researchers theorized that study participants who had higher overall antioxidant levels would be better able to neutralize the harmful free radicals given off by all metabolic processes. This free radical reduction might prevent irritated cells from becoming cancerous, and cancerous cells from spreading.
The results were consistent with the researchers’ predictions. Mesothelioma patients had the lowest antioxidant vitamin levels of any patients in the study.
